Cathryn O’Connor


Cathryn grew up in the Snowy Mountains (Island Bend & Cooma), she has also lived in the Blue Mountains (Leura). The love of the mountains has influence her subject matter of her paintings.
She moved to Ballarat 27 years ago, nursing in a Local hospital until retiring 3 years ago. She started painting 10 years ago with no formal training other than attending lessons. Since
retiring she enjoys more time painting and gardening. She is also a member of the Craft Council of Ballarat and Probus Club of Ballarat South.
She has participated in many exhibitions with many sales achieved.
Water colour was her first love, then she branched out to pastels and Oil mediums. Most recently attending lessons involving Charcoal, Oil Pastels and Acrylics.
Being an avid gardener and photographer her love of nature shows in the subject of her paintings, mainly landscapes, especially The Grampians.
Her creative stitching experience has enabled her to combine water colour painting on calico, then enhancing with embroidery stitches, which she enjoys immensely.
