Being from Melbourne I was fascinated by many of the icons of Ballarat such as the old fire station, the Sunshine Biscuit Factory, the lake and further afield the restaurants and galleries of Daylesford. Another particular love was using watercolour to show the essence of flowers such as the fragility of the iris, the colours of poppies and the brightness of sunflowers.
Ermas paintings have been exhibited and sold at the Convent Gallery in Daylesford, She has sold many paintings of the boat sheds on Lake Wendouree with its gleaming expanse of water.
Lately she has started painting in oils again and is gets great pleasure in depicting the Australian coastline and beaches.
Her first introduction to art was RMIT life glasses for Matriculation in 1950, In 1969 she attended painting glasses with Bruce Fletcher and Ramone Horsfield (tonal Painters in Oil at Syndal Tech Melbourne.
