“Art is the manifestation of spirituality in mankind.” – Jessie Merritt.

In her paintings Jennifer aims to present her responses to the subject without abstraction or distortion.

Blessed with a natural talent for drawing, Jennifer was encouraged by her husband to develop this. She received 6 yrs of private tuition with the late Jessie Merritt beginning in 1970 and this continued in 1982 when Jennifer joined the Geelong Branch of the McNeil Academy of Realist Art with the late Lance McNeil and his wife as tutors. During this time she was introduced to media other than oils including pastel, watercolour and mixed media etc.

Retiring to Sebastopol from the family farm at Derrinallum, in 2001, Jennifer became a member of the Ballarat Society of Artists Inc and used part of her garage as a studio.

Having a rural background favourite subjects include heavy horse teams, country scenes, figures in landscape, farm animals and still life. Over the years numerous awards have been received.

The most gratifying being several people’s choice. Her work is represented in private collections throughout Australia and overseas.
