Marion and her husband travel extensively around Australia heading to warmer parts of the country in winter. They feel very lucky to be living in such a diverse and beautiful country. The colours of the outback are so vibrant. Perhaps this is why she is drawn to painting them but she also enjoy all landscapes, seascapes and flowers from her garden.
It is a thrill for Marion to know that travellers from around the world have enjoyed her work and purchased it as a reminder of their stay in Australia. She has paintings in homes in UK, USA, NZ and Switzerland. Travelling Australians have also enjoyed her work so it is in every state.
While watercolour is her first love, Marion has started to paint in oils and her very first oil painting won a prize at the BSA Annual Art Show. Recognition at shows has given Marion the encouragement to continue painting and to attend workshops to further develop.
Marion belongs to the Ballarat Society of Artists Inc. and until recently the Victorian Watercolour Society, but it became difficult to attend meetings in Melbourne.
She had always wanted to learn to paint watercolour so when retirement finally arrived Marion enrolled at BRACE and completed 1 term in 2001 and 2 terms in 2002.
Marion enters local shows and has been fortunate to win a number of prizes awarded by well known judges and her peers from Ballarat Society of Artists and the Victorian Watercolour Society
In 2018, she visited Venice on a painting tour with EV Hales. The weather was very hot and humid, not ideal for painting but a lot was learnt from Ev and others attending on the tour. Marion has many memories and photos to inspire her future painting.
