Peter is self-taught
traditional artist, skilled in realistic drawing and painting. He has won many
awards for his work and specialises in commissioned work, drawing life-like
pets for his clients. He is well known for his portrayal of Clydesdales and
other heavy working horses. He also enjoys painting landscapes and seascapes.
Peter left England at the age
of 16. His first few years in Australia were spent on the land working as a
jackeroo in the Yass, Queanbeyan areas of NSW. He spent time at Lanyon Station
which is now an historic property. These years are the genesis of his
bush and animal paintings. His love of watercolour began when he drew and
painted cartoon characters for his grandchildren. Peter and his family moved to Ballarat in 1984 and spent several
years on farm properties in the district and became fully involved in country
life. Peter gained an insight into the Clydesdales that had such a great input
into the building of this great country.
