The Ballarat Society of Artists Inc. began in 1982 and currently has a membership of 80 +
Volunteers hold office and positions of responsibility to facilitate the various events that are held to promote art in the community and for the interests of the members.
Activities the Society arranges for members are:
- Monthly General Meetings to facilitate events often followed by talks and/or demonstrations by members and/or professional artists displaying and explaining their body of work.
- Monthly art competition at meetings.
- Organise venues for members’ work to be exhibited and sold.
- Hold informal Saturday painting sessions during the colder months.
- ‘Art in the Park’ held during Summer on Sundays at Lake Wendouree, near Piper’s restaurant.
- Small workshops by professional artists.
- Participation in other community events like the Begonia Festival, Ballarat Heritage Weekend.
